It's a damn shame that many a profoundly gifted jazz––particularly contemporary or "soul" jazz––musician is forced to dumb down her/his music in order to compete with many shallow-but-popular musicians who have hoodwinked the audience with a highly "cabaret" version of the music. The African beginnings of this music, that inspired the likes of Brubeck and Coltrane, is in peril of being lost forever.
OK, I feel better now.


Love the passion, the profanity...not so much!
