Prayeroftheday from

We petition for the end of immigrant day laborers' mistreatment and for the enactment of policies protecting the rights of all workers. We pray for those whose labor causes them nothing but exhaustion. Renew their spirits and allow them to rest. May they be encouraged in their work, knowing there is meaning in each action they take. Amen.

This is my friend Benny (I try to update his fashion file regularly). Being present with those who have been made poor is being present with God.

Staxtacular's 1st Online Auction is coming soon! @StaxMemphis

Soulsville Foundation, Inc

Staxtacular's 1st Online Auction is coming soon!

Beginning March 1, 2011, The Soulsville Foundation and the Memphis Grizzlies will launch our first-ever online Staxtacular auction to benefit the Stax Music Academy. As always, the auction will include a variety of highly sought-after items from the music, sports, and entertainment worlds.  While  some of the items featured on the upcoming online auction will be reserved for the live event on March 18th, we will have many fabulous items for you to bid on immediately! All proceeds from the auction, both online and at the event, will benefit the students of the Stax Music Academy, so please be generous.

Just 10 years ago, the site of the original Stax Records in Memphis was an empty lot covered in garbage. Next door stood an abandoned apartment building with no windows. Today, this is the site of the gleaming Stax Museum of American Soul Music, Stax Music Academy, and the Soulsville Charter School, all operated by the nonprofit Soulsville Foundation.

Now celebrating its 10th year, the Stax Music Academy is one of the country's premier music learning centers. It has helped thousands of young people through high-quality music education, mentoring experiences, unique performance opportunities, and valuable life lessions. SMA students have performed locally, nationally, and internationally and EVERY student in its first two years of graduating seniors was accepted to college. The academy, with your help, will continue to change thousands of lives by providing this positive experience through scholarships to more than 90% of its students.

Last year, the Staxtacular auction raised over $20,000 to benefit the students of the Stax Music Academy. Please help us increase that amount this year by bidding on some of the many items we have to offer. We will be adding new items to our auction every day, so please check back often. Happy bidding!
