Music City JAM with friends

To those who missed the Music City JAM yesterday, we had a great time! Melinda Doolittle and Peter Frampton along with a great cast of jazz stars -- and it cooled down nicely after "sautéing" us nicely. I want to especially thank 3 friends of kirkwhalum.com and of Ruby's and mine who have been so faithful to us and so much of an encouragement -- Joy, Alysée and George. Looking out and seeing the 3 of you was like a cool drink of water in the heat for me! We struggled a bit because of technical glitches, so it was awfully nice to know that you had my back.

I'm not sure what will happen next on the Nashville festival scene (in terms of my involvement at least) but I am sincerely grateful to the guys who initially started the festival from "Nothing But Love" and to the Nashville Convention and Visitor's Bureau for giving me the chance to host these 5 years. the NBL guys will take the event back over next year and we wish them all the success in the world.

I would like to know when you are coming to Chicago. I have been listening to you for a while however my Dad, Dr. Ben Johnson of Nashville often talked about you and my Mom talked about seeing you in a concert right after my Dad's passing in 2006, which brought much joy to her. I am looking for you in 2009 in Chicago(hopefully) or I'll just have to catch you in Nashville when I am there. Continue to walk with the King!!!

Kirk, I am glad you all had a great time and I prayed that you would. Of course, I can truly say that I have always had a great time at any of your “giving us your all with excellence” performances. Love and Blessings!

And it was a pleasure to be there (for the 4th time!!) Let me say that a REAL highlight for me, after 6 yrs of seeing the Live Kirk, was hearing a full version of I Will Always Love You. Interesting, when I got back to hotel room sunday night, The Bodyguard was on TV.

Thanks for bringing your friends. A real treat to hear the author of Sonny, Bobby Hebb!!!

Next to hearing a live Kirk, I really enjoyed Peter Frampton. I guess 25 yrs of waiting was worth it!!!!!
