Speechless
Very few speeches (collections of ideas with the potential to change things for the good) have left me speechless in my 40+ years of listening to people.
This one has left me speechless.

Thanks so much JoAnna. I so appreciate your passionate remarks - and especially that you stopped by my site! I agree with you on this point: "For unto us a Child is, unto us a Son is given. And the government shall be upon His shoulder. And His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of peace. And of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end..."
Jesus is my Eternal King! And yes I am voting for Barack. I have checked him out EXTENSIVELY and believe, for many reasons - especially the fact that he is inspiring a whole new generation to be involved - that he will help turn the page on 8 years of bad and arrogant policy both at home and abroad (not to mention ignoring the group of people that Jesus seemed to stick up for the most -- the poor.)
This is what "blogging " should be about JoAnna. You're passionate about where you stand. So am I. And thus the two of us are part of the solution!
Blessings

I am a true believer in Christ as my Lord and Savior whom died and resurrected for our sins! I have followed your career along with your teachings. BUT...I CAN NOT BELIEVE you have fallen for Obama! Please do your research on this man, he is evil! Pray and allow the Holy Spirit that lives within to show you! He's too young, youth does not hold experience that wisdom comes with. Military experience is vital which he holds none. AND...haven't you ever noticed that when he says the Pledge of Allegiance, he NEVER clutches or holds his hand over his heart? PLEASE TO A MAN I'VE ADMIRED AND BELIEVED IN YOUR BIBLE STUDY...do your home work about this man! Please don't vote for him just because he is black like so many others. I know you said differently, but come on, most of his voters are black.. Let's be real now! Just like, Hillary, most whom are voting for her, are woman! Please don't be fooled by the media and do your research. Now.. there isn't much of a selection to vote upon, but God is still in control. I have a son whom is in Iraq & told me that the media only puts down President Bush, but why is it that most of the troops continue to return to finish what they believe in and why they're there. The media has fooled many, so do your homework. My son has been there since the beginning, has returned home, then back, why, he knows the importance of this war that so few understand, yet our country puts our president down for things they only believe in the media. It's your choice of course, but think again & again & above all, pray & allow the Holy Spirit to be your guide.
Sincerely with the truth that I wish I could reach out to the world with;

A Paz do Senhor Jesus, Kirk!

I haven't checked that book, but I will.
What do you think Obama will bring to the table that will effectively change things? Can one man do much against the house or senate?

No problem, I really do value your participation in my site Brother. Hey have you read "BLUE LIKE JAZZ" by Donald Miller? It's an incredible INCREDIBLE book to help us "color in between the lines" of our world-view as followers of Jesus the radical Liberal Conservative!

Kirk-
Thanks very much for your comment. This is an issue that I have struggled with for years as a Christian and your answer really puts it in perspective. I have been taught from a young age: Conservative=good, Democrat=bad. Especially on this issue. However, I've always identified more with Democratic values. I think that playing this music (jazz), you just have a more open and inclusive outlook on life.
Years ago, when I was about 15, you signed two of my CDs at a concert and wrote in two Bible verses to look up. I did, and it really changed my life. Thanks for that.
This election is the most important our country has seen in a long time. I appreciate you talking about it.
P.S. thanks for the suggestion on the reeds! : )

Thanks so much for your comment Badreed. I appreciate you writing - and especially posing such an important question. I'll quote Sen. Obama on this one; "I don't think I know anyone who is for abortion." In other words, as a father of 2 beautiful girls himself and a believer, he is not "for" the killing of babies. Neither am I. But this is an issue that's far more complex.
The more important question is "Can we legislate morality?" Should we continue to work as Christ-followers to live in such a way that inspires people to make godly decisions (walking with them and caring for them) or should we make it a law and expect them to follow it?
Should we show these young ladies the love of Christ or should we hand them a copy of the law written mostly by men? We're the difference-makers. We're the ones who must continue to live as Christ would have us to, and to pray for and love non-believers.
Christians helped to elect a president twice in a row who is "pro-life." He then commenced immediately to diminish our reputation overseas, ignore the needs of the poor, lead us into a wrongful and ill-advised war and promote the very ugliest of arrogant Americanism. (I have a longer list if you're interested).
I truly believe, my saxophone-playing brother, that we have a responsibility to the mothers of those 4,000+ kids who gave their lives in this unjust war, to make our decision for president on more than one issue - even if the issue is abortion.
I believe that we as a country MUST MOVE FORWARD TOGETHER. White, black, brown, red & yellow. Barack is the only candidate with even a ghost of a chance of inspiring us to move forward together or to restore the reputation abroad that was built on so much genius, blood, sweat and tears.
Hit me back!
PS. Try Vandoren V-16 reeds - you'll change your name to "Mr. Goodreed!"

Kirk-
You support Obama. Does that mean, as a Christian, you also support abortion? Obama does. I'm not trying to be inflammatory. I'm just interested in your point of view on this issue.
