Doubt the devil
I have made up my mind (my will is going to have to follow suite!) to doubting what God says because it's tantamount to putting faith in thoughts that the devil puts into my head - I'm assuming you realize that's where doom & gloom originate! "Woe is me... Etc."
I will do the reverse today: I will TRUST GOD AND WHAT HIS WORD HAS TO SAY and doubt the devil!
The benefits of suffering!!!?
According to Adrian Rogers there's PURIFICATION (from sin & sinful ambitions), PARTNERSHIP (with the Savior in His suffering), POWER (to deal with future life-challenges) & PERSUASION (to be able to share the Savior's love in a credible way). All "benefits" of the furnace of suffering. "For it has been granted unto us, not only to believe in Him but also to suffer for His sake." Colossians
Pastor Rogers also brought out the fact that when the 3 Hebrew boys went INTO the furnace they were BOUND, but when they came out they were LOOSED!
The fire only burns off what the world puts on us... CHAINS!
Be Kind Rewind
My son and I saw Be Kind Rewind tonight! I was a bit annoyed at first - seemed pretty random. But MAN did I enjoy it! Soooo creative.

Fear Not
1Chronicles 28:20 And David said to his son Solomon, "Be strong and of good courage, and do it; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the LORD God-my God- will be with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you, until you have finished all the work for the service of the house of the LORD."
In Mark 5:36 Jesus gives this word to the father of a sick girl: "Do not be afraid; only believe."
Notice that he doesn't tell the man to make sure he "understands" everything first. We won't always understand. But we CAN believe. Understanding doesn't do away with fear - in fact sometimes it causes fear! But Perfect Love casts out fear. Perfect Love is sort of a "nick-name" for the Holy Spirit. When He is in me and I allow Him to be in control... there goes fear!

The Rev. K.T. Whalum Memorial Post office
Today Memphis Mayor Willie Herenton (pictured here) & TN Congressman Steve Cohen honored my family with the dedication of The Rev. K.T. Whalum Memorial Post office here in Memphis. What a tremendous honor. My dad, who passed away this past October, served, not only as a pastor and city coucilman, but as a postal executive for many years. Many people attribute their careers to his generosity and advocacy. Thank you Rep. Cohen for your kindness in introducing the bill that accomplished this in Congress.

You may be interested to know that the president with the most EXPERIENCE going into the White House - 10 years in the House, 10 years in the Senate, Minister to Russia, 4 years as Secretary of State, then Minister to Britain... went on to become the WORST PRESIDENT IN HISTORY! His name was James Buchanan. Experience huh?!

Spinning So Fast!
Is anybody else about fed up with the press (especially TV) spinning every single word that comes out of the candidates' mouths!! It's amazing what new and creative meanings they can presume upon people's words when many times they don't even care to know their original intentions. Barack, Hillary, McCain... doesn't matter. Many members of the press are having so much fun at the expense of providing us with SUBSTANCE.
